“We know that the equipment is cutting-edge, it is the most recent we have, it is a non-refundable financial cooperation,” said the Vice Minister of Promotion, Epidemiological Surveillance and Traditional Medicine, Max Enríquez.
After a meeting held in La Paz with representatives of Japan, the Vice Minister assured that the donation will benefit the population most in need.
Enríquez said that the list of equipment includes tomographs, mammographs, anesthesia machines, among others, whose total value is 2.8 million dollars, non-refundable.
The arrival of the medical equipment will occur in the following months, it was reported.
On June 30th, Vice President David Choquehuanca and the Japanese Deputy Parliamentary Minister of Foreign Affairs, Masatoshi Akimoto, held a meeting in La Paz.
Choquehuanca expressed gratitude for Japan’s debt forgiveness in 2006, and highlighted that, despite this, the Japanese side continues to provide non-refundable financial support to Bolivia.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to bilateral cooperation.
