At the awarding event, held at the Cuban Embassy here, the ambassador highlighted the Peruvian journalist’s professional merits and long friendship with Cuba, as he has been working for the Latin American news agency for more than 50 years.
Zamora welcomed the presence of the renown figures who attended the event, and the historic ties of friendship that unite the two peoples.
Upon receiving the award, Robles Sosa thanked the UPEC for the honor given to him and for the presence of friends and colleagues at the ceremony, while emphasizing Prensa Latina’s commitment to truth and the motto of its founder, Argentine journalist Jorge Ricardo Masetti, who said, “We are objective, but not impartial.”
The ceremony was attended by the directors of the State news agency Andina, Félix Paz, and of the cable news channel Canal N, Gilberto Hume, as well as the deputy director of the newspaper La República, Carlos Castro.
Also present were the dean of the College of Journalists of Peru, Ricardo Burgos; the secretary general of the Federated Center of Journalists of Lima, Ricardo Sánchez-Serra; the director of the Internet channel Nuestramérica TV, Carlos Bedoya, and the correspondent of Telesur in Peru, Ramiro Angulo.
