The General Directorate of Civil Protection last night raised the color alert for rains to yellow after a new forecast of thunderstorms, which would begin last night and extend to the afternoon and evening of Thursday, according to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN).
The country’s alert system is divided into green, attention for possible threat, orange, caution for possible threat, yellow, preparation for possible threat and red, action for imminent danger.
The entity pointed out that due to previous rains and the amount of humidity in the soil, any type of precipitation could generate difficulties in vehicular traffic and crosswalks, in addition to flooding and landslides.
In addition to preparing shelters, the agency recommended the Ministry of Education, private schools and universities to evaluate the suspension of classes until next week.
