“Israeli attacks violate international laws, which guarantees the safety of civilians,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry stressed that the attacks contravene Israel’s obligations “as an occupying power, and undermine international and regional efforts to resume a peace process based on the two-state solution” and also reaffirms Cairo’s support to the Palestinian people’s struggle for their rights, especially the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement urges international communities to fulfill its responsibilities and take immediate measures to avoid the dangers of the recent escalation.
The Ministry issued its call hours after an IDF raid on the Jenin refugee camp, northern West Bank, which caused the death of four Palestinians.
The Egyptian authorities also condemned this week a new incursion by Israeli settlers into the Esplanade of the Mosques, in the eastern sector of Jerusalem.
“Such actions exacerbate violence in the Palestinian territories,” the Ministry stressed in another statement.
