Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced in the Upper House the bill called Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which got the approval of the majority of the Lok Sabha members the day before.
Meghwal said the bill will promote women’s empowerment and include women belonging to Indian, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe minorities.
On the other hand, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar constituted an exclusive group of 13 women vice chairpersons to lead the discussions on the bill for this day only.
Dhankhar, vice-president of the country, emphasized the need to promote women’s leadership, especially at this moment of change, which he described as transcendental.
