The venue of the event, the National University in Bogotá, brought together local and foreign experts.
Two discussions are being held: “Towards an environmental policy in universities consistent with transitions”, and “Co-research strategies for just energy transitions”.
The participants, who represent initiatives from several Latin American countries, were invited to make their presentations this Monday before the Colombian Congress.
The Minister of Energy and Mines of Colombia, Andrés Camacho, presented the fundamental axes of the Roadmap for a Just Energy Transition, a guiding document designed to achieve community and industrial generation of renewable energy in Colombia. He explained that local and community management of resources, co-construction, open and honest dialogue, joint proposals, the proposed decree under review, and education and capacity building stand out as part of the energy democratization strategy.
The minister assured that the Energy Transition on a global scale has already begun and Colombia is preparing everything to rise to that challenge. He also emphasized that the Roadmap analyzes the engineering, productivity and social scenarios changes so as to guarantee a future with security, justice and energy sovereignty.
