The ceremony will take place at the Villena Hall of UNEAC headquarters in Havana at 3:00 p.m., local time, when an exhibition of posters by the graphic artist who will receive the award will be inaugurated, according to the Association of Visual Artists of UNEAC.
According to its president, painter and engraver Lesbia Vent Dumois, National Plastic Arts Award winner, the conception of the award in 2004 was an act of justice because other specialties of visual arts had a recognition, while design did not.
This is an award that pays a very important tribute, while contributing to the development of creators, designer Fabian Muñoz Diaz, son of prominent artist Eduardo Muñoz Bach, whose name the award bears, told Cuban television.
“It gives the award winners the opportunity to hold an exhibition, and it is a way for UNEAC to insert itself in the panorama of Cuban design and its professionals in it,” he pointed out.
Although the study for the conception of more attractive and coherent designs on the social reality must be constant, an evolution is perceived with respect to previous years, he commented.
The creator said that in both editorial and poster design, there is a variety of proposals and intentions by Cuban designers.
