On each occasion, messages of greetings to the date and messages of new success to the DPRK were issued by leaders of revolutionary organizations and solidarity groups with the DPRK.
Special congratulations were sent to Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and chairman of State Affairs.
September 9 is one of the most important dates in the country along with the Day of the Sun (Kim Il Sung’s birthday), the Day of the Light Star (Kim Jong Il’s birthday) and the Founding Day of the WPK.
In August 1948 the DPRK elected the Supreme People’s Assembly and on September 3 a new Constitution was promulgated. Six days later, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was proclaimed with Kim Il Sung as prime minister.
