According to a Xinhua report, Vice President Han Zheng repeated these remarks to US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry during a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Han stressed that the Chinese Government grants great importance to promoting environmental protection and has achieved the 2020 climate target ahead of schedule.
Kerry visited China in July, marking the resumption of formal communications on climate change after a hiatus in 2022.
At the time, talks between Kerry and his Chinese counterpart, Xie Zhenhua, focused on reducing methane emissions, limiting coal use, reducing deforestation, and helping poor countries.
Although China said that it will achieve carbon neutrality by 2060 and uses clean energy to achieve this goal, it should be noted that other sources of air pollution here are the emissions from motor vehicles, ships, and construction machinery.
