“We have dedicated ourselves to war. We have been called to war. Latin America has been called to deliver war machines, men to go to the combat fields. They forgot that our countries were invaded several times by the same people who today talk about fighting against invasions”, the President said.
In his speech at the high-level segment of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Petro affirmed they forgot that, for oil, they invaded Iraq, Libya and Syria.
“They forgot that the same reasons were expressed to defend (Volodymir) Zelenski (president of Ukraine) and the same reasons should be used to defend Palestine,” the Colombian head of State said.
They forgot that in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals all wars had to be stopped, “but they helped to start one because it was convenient for the world power in its Game of Thrones, in the hunger games”, he emphasized.
“What difference is there between Ukraine and Palestine? Isn’t it time to end both wars and others taking advantage of the short time to build the roads to save life on the planet?” Petro asked before the plenary of the United Nations’ main deliberative, policy-making and representative body.
Petro said that “as president of Colombia, the country of beauty (…) I propose to end the war to have the time to save ourselves”.
In this sense, he proposed that the United Nations sponsor two peace conferences as soon as possible: one on Ukraine and the other on Palestine, not because there are no other wars in the world as in his own country, but because they would teach peace in all regions of the planet.

Petro propone a ONU conferencias sobre guerras en Ucrania y Palestina
Naciones Unidas, 19 sep (Prensa Latina) El presidente de Colombia, Gustavo Petro, propuso hoy a la ONU auspiciar dos conferencias para buscar una salida pacífica a las guerras de Ucrania y Rusia y de Israel y Palestina.
“Nos hemos dedicado la guerra. Nos han convocado a la guerra. A Latinoamérica la han llamado para entregar máquinas de guerra, hombres para ir a los campos de combate. Se olvidaron que a nuestros países nos invadieron varias veces los mismos que hoy hablan de luchar contra invasiones”, expresó el gobernante.
En su discurso en el segmento de alto nivel de la 78 sesión de la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, afirmó que se olvidaron que, por petróleo, invadieron a Iraq, a Libia y a Siria.
“Se olvidaron que las mismas razones que se expresan para defender a (Volodímir) Zelenski (presidente de Ucrania) son las mismas razones con las que se deberían defender a Palestina”, expresó el jefe de Estado colombiano. Se olvidaron que para cumplir los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible había que cesar todas las guerras, “pero ayudaron a prender una porque al poder mundial le convenía en su Juego de Tronos, en los juegos del hambre”, enfatizó.
“¿Cuál diferencia hay entre Ucrania y Palestina? ¿No es hora de acabar ambas guerras y otras y aprovechar el corto tiempo para construir los caminos para salvar la vida en el planeta?”, preguntó Petro ante la plenaria del órgano principal de las Naciones Unidas para la deliberación, adopción de políticas y representación.
Petro dijo que “como presidente de Colombia, el país de la belleza (…) les propongo acabar la guerra para tener el tiempo de salvarnos”.
En ese sentido propuso que Naciones Unidas auspicie cuanto antes dos conferencias de paz: una sobre Ucrania y la otra sobre Palestina y no porque no hay otras guerras en el mundo como en su propio país, sino porque enseñarían a hacer la paz en todas las regiones del planeta.
