Motivation, Cuban swimmer Andrea Becalli’s weapon on her way to Chile

Matanzas, Cuba, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) Every day in training, despite the difficulties and limitations, motivation pushes me to move forward and guides me towards the Pan-American Games, swimmer Andrea Becalli said.

Focusing on objectives and setting goals is fundamental to achieve better results, and now the focus is on the Pan-American Games in Santiago de Chile, scheduled to begin on October 20, at which I expect good results, she added.

Becalli explained that in the individual aspect she will be looking for her best times, mainly in the 200-meter backstroke, in which she won the crown at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador in 2023 and finished in the 31st place in the recent World Aquatic Sports Championship in Fukuoka, Japan, where she clocked 2:18.65 minutes, very close to her top of 2:18.23 minutes.

The 19 year-old swimmer stressed that one of the fundamental aspirations in the Pan-American Games will be to fight for a place on the podium in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay, a complex task, but a goal after the excellent performance by the Cuban relay team in San Salvador, where they won the contest.

Together with Elisbet Gámez, Lorena González and Lauren Estrada, we will fight for a medal or at least to be among the five best relay teams in the region, and we are training hard for that, she stressed.
