Salvadoran and Honduran senior representatives of Economy, Customs and Migration and Foreign Affairs held a meeting in El Amatillo from Pasaquina, La Union, where Guatemalan interests were included as well.
Participants assessed the integration process and the planned readjustments at the El Amatillo border post, as well as entering into force the advance statement, with which they seek to streamline border procedures and reduce costs for carriers and traders.
Salvadoran officials attending the encounter were Minister of Economy Maria Luisa Hayem; Director General of Customs Benjamin Mayorga; and delegates from the Directorate General of Migration and Alien Affairs.
Honduras’ side was represented by Fredis Cerrato, Secretary of Economic Development; Fausto Calix, Director of the Customs Administration, and Geraldine Guth, Executive Director of the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration.
