In the plenary session, under the motto, “Rebuilding Trust and Reactivating World Solidarity,” President Cortizo is scheduled to take the floor on Tuesday, according to a press release.
Cortizo arrived in New York along with Foreign Minister Janaina Tewaney and First Lady Yazmin Colon.
On September 6, the FM Tewaney held talks with journalists, stating that the migratory issue is part of an upcoming meeting at the UN between Cortizo and his Colombian counterpart Gustavo Petro.
Regarding the UN Summit, its Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the agenda includes six key issues for complying with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In this regard, Guterres mentioned the end of hunger, the transition to renewable energies, closing the digitalization gap, quality education, decent work and social protection, as well as addressing the global crisis.
