Cuban Parliament delegation conducts extensive program in Vietnam

Hanoi, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) A delegation from the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (ANPP), headed by its vice president Ana Mari Machado, is conducting an extensive program of meetings with senior Vietnamese leaders.

The Cuban deputies will be received this Monday by the vice president of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Quang Phuong, and by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khao. They will also hold a meeting with members of the Legislative Economic Commission.

The ANPP delegation will hold a meeting on Tuesday at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Later, it will travel to Bac Ninh province, where it will visit aquatic food, vegetable oil and vaccine processing factories.

Mari Machado and her delegation arrived in Hanoi last Wednesday to participate in the Ninth World Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which was attended by more than 300 legislators from 75 countries.

The Cuban authorities were received by the president of the National Assembly, Vuong Dinh Hue, who praised the growing bilateral ties with Cuba, manifested in the frequent exchange of visits and cooperation at many levels and different sectors.

Dinh Hue ratified Vietnam’s support for Cuba in its fight to eliminate the United States blockade, and expressed his certainty that the exchange of experiences between Vietnamese and Cuban legislatures will be more practical and effective.

Machado thanked the National Assembly of Vietnam for the help provided during the Covid-19 pandemic and for supporting Cuba’s participation in the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations as an observer. She also mentioned the intention to organize an interparliamentary meeting in the first half of 2024, which will be focused on foreign policy, and will allow the reviewing compliance with the agreements signed between both countries.
