Mahamat said that this mechanism was put in place by the AU Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment, through the Situation Room for Disaster Risk Reduction of the African Early Warning and Multi-Hazard Action System, according to a statement.

These structures also included the Department of Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, which will hold regular meetings with the Permanent Mission of Libya accredited to the political organization.

A multi-sectoral team of experts from these departments, as well as from Political Affairs, Peace and Security and the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will be deployed to support Tripoli in its ongoing response efforts following the passage of Storm Daniel.
