The Venezuelan leader, who is attending the G77 Summit held in Havana, Cuba, posted on X social media: “we are on a pathway of great experiences”.
Solidarity, knowledge and complementarity,” he added.
Taking the floor on Friday at the first plenary session of the G77+China Summit, President Maduro said that all the historical and political conditions seem to be coming together so that our peoples of the South can raise their voices and flags of independence and sovereignty.
And thus, he claimed, be able to conclude the 21st century as our century, “without imperialism, without hegemonism”, in which we base our relations on permanent complementarity.
The Head of State recalled that the G77+China will be turning 60 years old in 2024, a period that is said to be quick, but in which many things happened in that time of struggles, progress, sorrows, hopes, and “here we are setting the standard of what should be a civilizing model that allows dialogue, inclusion and integration”.
As peoples of the South we have to seek our own pathways and not accept dictates of any power with pretensions of domination, he stressed.
On the first day, the Bolivarian leader held meetings with the UN Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres with whom he debated on issues addressed by the South American Head of State in the plenary session of the important meeting.
Maduro also met with his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame; Angolan counterpart João Lourenço; and with Alicia Bárcena, Mexico´s Foreign Secretary, a country with which Venezuela maintains a historic relationship of friendship, cooperation and respect.
