Panama urges to exclude Cuba from SST list

Coordinadora-Nacional-de-Solidaridad-con-Cuba-en-Panama-768x507
Panama City, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) The National Coordinator of Solidarity with Cuba in Panama is currently promoting a campaign to request the U.S. government to exclude Cuba from the States Sponsoring Terrorism (SST) list.

In a form circulating in social networks, the solidarity group called on friends and organizations to reaffirm with their signatures the claim to Joe Biden’s administration to put an end to the unjust measure that tightens the hostile blockade imposed for over 60 years.

Young lawyer Lilian Ruiz claimed on X social media that Cuba lives and resists despite this hostile policy and other unilateral measures imposed by the White House.

The illegal inclusion of Cuba in that unilateral SST list was arranged by former President Donald Trump days before the end of his term in January 2021 “to punish and stifle the Cuban people”, according to other activists.

Cuba was removed in 2015 from the SST list during Barack Obama’s term, but Trump reinstated it as one of the last acts in office and in correspondence with the policy of maximum pressure he applied regarding Cuba.

During the day, the message by President Gustavo Petro, who asked to remove Cuba from that spurious SST list, also reverberated in the digital platforms in Panama.
