The meeting takes place in the context of the G77+China Summit which is being held from Friday to Saturday in Havana, with a significant attendance of presidents, prime ministers and personalities of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
During the official talks, Marrero and Phillips reaffirmed their willingness to continue developing bilateral cooperation in health, agriculture and other areas of common interest, as well as to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two nations.
According to a TV report, both leaders valued Cuba’s participation in the CARICOM Food Security Commission -chaired by Guyana-, considering Cuba’s interest in an issue that it describes as “national security”.
Marrero reiterated to the Guyanese prime minister the congratulations of the Cuban government and people on the 50th anniversary of the Caribbean Community, and the willingness to continue working with the member states on issues of common interest.
As part of this morning’s meetings with leaders and personalities attending the G77+China Summit in Havana, Manuel Marrero met and spoke with the United Arab Emirates Minister of Climate Change and Environment Mariam Almheiri.
Marrero thanked Almheiri for her country’s presence at the meeting, praised the good state of bilateral relations and the willingness to continue strengthening economic and trade cooperation.
