Mexico City, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) Ovidio Guzmán, one of the youngest of Chapo's 10 sons, who replaced him as head of the Sinaloa Cartel, has arrived in the United States to be extradited to Chicago in order to be tried for the same crimes as his father´s.

The White House confirmed his extradition on Friday, and on Saturday declared that the extradition of Ovidio Guzman Lopez, son of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, is testament to the importance of the ongoing cooperation between the U.S. and Mexican governments in the crack down on drug trafficking.

Liz Sherwood-Randall, National Security Advisor to President Joe Biden who coordinates the U.S. anti-fentanyl strategy, confirmed the extradition.

She detailed that “U.S. and Mexican law enforcement have successfully transferred custody of Ovidio Guzmán López who has been accused of drug trafficking, money laundering and other violent crimes”.

Sherwood-Randall, who has traveled four times to Mexico to meet with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with whom he has discussed security issues, said that Joe Biden’s administration is grateful “to our Mexican counterparts for their collaboration in working to protect our people from violent criminals”.

He added that the Biden-Harris administration will continue to use every tool available to vigorously counter the deadly scourge of fentanyl and other narcotics that are killing so many Americans.
