The forum will discuss issues, including what to do and how to do it to uphold and guarantee international law and the United Nations Charter, a predominant condition for maintaining and cultivating peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said in his opening remarks.

Other issues include the role of developed countries, international organizations, business community, and youth in solving global problems and promoting cultural and human values in sustainable development, Dinh Hue said.

According to the Vietnamese Parliament leader, the forum will also address the establishment by the IPU of a global network of young parliamentarians on innovation to exchange and learn from each other’s experiences.

In a meeting with IPU President Duarte Pacheco and other senior IPU leaders on Thursday, Dinh Hue emphasized the organization’s increasingly important role in promoting inter-parliamentary cooperation mechanisms, working with the United Nations to solve current global problems.

This meeting, to be held until September 17, will make a significant contribution to sustainable development by mobilizing the participation of young people in this important cause, he said.

The central theme of this 9th World Conference is “The Role of Young People in Promoting the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals via Digital Transformation and Innovation.”
