G77+China Summit in Cuba is trending on social network

Havana, Sep 15 (Prensa Latina) The Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Group of 77 and China (G77+China) is a trend on Friday on the social network X (formerly Twitter), on which thousands of Internet users have exchanged opinions about the meeting, which is held in Cuba for the first time.

The eyes of the world look today at Havana, where the nations of the Global South are leading intense debates at the International Conference Center, with the presence of several world leaders, whose speeches have focused on the main theme of the event: “Current Development Challenges: Rol of Science, Technology and Innovation.”

The words #CubaG77 and #Havana generate several comments on that social network, and they are also echoed on other networks like Facebook and Instagram.

From early hours the International Conference Center was decorated to receive the guests at this event, which will conclude on Saturday with a final declaration.

Earlier, when welcoming the visitors in his capacity of pro tempore president of the bloc, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stated that it is now up to the countries of the South to change the rules of the game, and noted that the developing countries that are members of this alliance demand the pending democratization of international relations.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, in turned, stressed that the G77+China must raise their voices for a world that works for everyone with a view to building a system that defends human rights and safeguards the common interest.

Several leaders are attending the Summit, including Presidents Alberto Fernández (Argentina), Gustavo Petro (Colombia), Nicolás Maduro (Venezuela), Daniel Ortega (Nicaragua), and the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves; as well as the presidents of Suriname, Chan Santokhi; and Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, among others.
