During the first day of the Summit, held in Havana, President Sahiba Gafarova said the world is currently facing up serious challenges which continue to grow along with changes in traditional scenarios.
In this context, she stressed that science, technology and innovation play a critical role which must be interrelated with educational training and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
President Sahiba Gafarova explained that his country reaffirms the Paris Agreement on climate change and submitted its bid to host COP 29.
Gafarova informed that several projects focused on renewable energies are being carried out in her country and there is a consensus on the measures to be adopted to achieve the SDGs.
During her speech, she made reference to the conflict between her country and Armenia due to a dispute for the mountainous Nagorno Karabakh region control, internationally recognized as Azerbaijan’s territory, but populated mostly by Armenians.
