According to Eskom spokeswoman Daphne Mokwena, this will occur in addition to the Stage Six blackouts (cut in the availability of six thousand megawatts (MW) per day) that are already being implemented indefinitely, although the Government has announced that the electricity situation should show considerable improvements by the fourth quarter of 2023.
The spokeswoman revealed that last night the company lost more than six thousand MW due to the high demand for electricity, caused by the cold front that is ravaging several parts of the country.
According to local specialists, the constant blackouts suffered by the South African population, persistent for years, although aggravated in the last 12 months, are mainly due to years of low effective investment in generation units.
