Summit, which will open on Friday.
Shettima, who heads his country’s delegation to the G77+China Summit, ratified Nigeria’s firm opposition to the economic sanctions to which the Government of the United States subjects Cuba, the Cuban News Agency (ACN) reported.
Nigeria supports the resolution of world conflicts peacefully, the Nigerian vice president, who recalled that his nation and Cuba have maintained diplomatic relations since July 1, 1974, noted.
Valdés conveyed greetings from Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel to his Nigerian counterpart, and highlighted Africa’s significance in the creation of Cuba’s nationality.
Africa runs through our blood and is manifested in idiosyncrasy, customs and religious beliefs like the Yoruba, the Cuban Vice President stressed.
He pointed out that the presence of a Nigerian delegation at the G77 Summit is an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic, bilateral, commercial and cooperation relations with the most populous country and the largest economy on the African continent.
Valdés said that collaboration in education, health care, science and technology with Nigeria is palpable and it was demonstrated in the training of professionals from that country in Cuban territory and with the exchange of pharmaceutical products.
Shettima is one of the representatives of more than 100 to 134 member countries of the G77+China

The event, organized in the context of Cuba’s pro tempore presidency in the group, has as its theme Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation.
