A great number of official delegations have already confirmed and arrived in Havana, including Caribbean States. Suriname’s President Chandrikapersad Santokhi and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves are expected to arrive in the next few hours.
Th UN Secretary-General (UNSG) Antonio Guterres, the heads of State of Sri Lanka, Laos, Mongolia, among others, and several foreign ministers and ministers of the countries members of the G77+China are already in Havana.
The Group, the largest bloc made up of 134 developing nations within the UN system, is the most diverse forum for consultation in the multilateral sphere.
Established on June 15, 1964, following the signing of the “Joint Declaration of the Seventy-Seven Developing Countries”, it was set up with the purpose of stimulating the economic interests and strengthening the capacity for joint negotiation within the UN.
