Cai Wei, Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, also praised the progress in bilateral relations during this period.
The senior official recalled President Nayib Bukele’s visit to China in 2019 and cooperation projects and assistance from Beijing to the Central American country.
He referred to China’s participation in building several infrastructures in El Salvador, including the modern National Library in the capital, which, he said, will be a monument to bilateral friendship.
Cai Wei mentioned as milestones of bilateral relations the donation of Chinese vaccines to El Salvador during the confrontation with Covid-19, the batch donation of flour and fertilizers as part of the Chinese aid program, the increased educational exchanges, and donation of Sunset Park for the enjoyment of the Salvadoran population.
