President of Nicaragua assures that these are times of challenges

Managua, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) The president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, stated during a speech last night prior to the parade on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the founding of the National Police, that the times we live in "are of challenges upon challenges, which test the revolutionary quality of those who took up arms to overthrow pro-imperialist governments".

The president praised those who remain firm throughout history. “Others walk ahead of time, and when conditions are adverse, cowardice makes them renounce, cowardice makes them become agents of the Yankee empire and betray,” he expressed.

He also urged Colombian President Gustavo Petro to eliminate the US military bases still remaining in Colombia.

Moreover, Ortega mentioned the current Chilean administration headed by Gabriel Boric, and assured that Chile is not a democracy, as it remains chained to the laws of imperialism and those left by the dictator Augusto Pinochet; he also recalled that over nine thousand young people were repressed by the police in the streets of Santiago and other cities during the Government of Sebastián Piñera.

In his speech, the Sandinista leader also made reference to the fight against drug trafficking and how the United States has a false attitude in that regard, since the banks that receive the largest amounts of billions of dollars from drug traffickers are located in the United States.

“And when there are denounces, what do they do? They fine them, that is, there is a combination of a lack of values, of conscience, a lack of humanity,” he stressed.
