In his morning press conference after returning yesterday from Colombia and Chile, he said he will participate in the ceremony of those six teenagers so admired for the historic feat they staged in defense of our nation when the United States invaded it between 1847 and 1848.
Let us all remember and never forget that the United States unilaterally, arbitrarily and criminally declared war on Mexico, invaded it militarily and the resistance was unleashed throughout our country, from all the people, who voluntarily signed up to defend the homeland in what was called the National Guard.
He related that the resistance was organized in the border, gulf ports, in all the territory, before a superior enemy, but foreigners prevailed and before reaching the National Palace, the defense of Chapultepec took place in the castle, headquarters of the cadet academy.
There they offered their lives to the homeland without being able to prevent them from raising their flag in this palace, explained the President.
He recalled we had to accept the imposition of a disgraceful treaty, and they took away half of Mexico’s territory, more than two million square kilometers, a great blow, and today we commemorate the defense of those children, adolescents, who defended our homeland, our sovereignty, with an unsurpassable, exemplary courage.
