Addressing an international forum in Hong Kong organized within the framework of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the Hungarian foreign minister stressed that the EU gave a wrong answer to the Ukrainian conflict.
Europe allowed the United States to provoke each other into a competition on who would supply more weapons to Ukraine and approve sanctions against Russia, which did not lead to ending the war but only paralyzed the European economy, said Szijjarto, quoted by local television.
According to the Hungarian diplomat, the sanctions did not achieve their goal and turned out to be a failure. Russia did not kneel, but at the same time, the region’s competitiveness deteriorated, as proved by China, which surpassed the EU in terms of the Gross Domestic Product last year.
Hungary calls for even closer, stronger, more successful, and more effective economic cooperation between Europe and China, Szijjarto concluded.
