This Ministry specified in a statement that in the last three years peaks in demand were reached in September with an upward trend, since in 2021 it reached 3,161 MW, and 3,175 MW in 2022. So far this month, the highest figure was reported last Monday.

The government attributes the interruptions that are occurring in the country today to breakdowns due to urban and economic growth, and points out that it is also facing losses that prevent it from investing what is necessary to improve the system, Diario Libre reported.

In view of this situation, the Ministry of Energy assured that there is a plan for the gradual improvement of the national energy situation.

In this sense, it specified that it is contemplating the construction of electric plants to satisfy the demand and to maintain a reserve in case of a contingency.

It also mentioned 34 contracts signed in the last three years, of which 11 are in commercial operation and which allow the incorporation of 368 MW from fossil fuel sources and 1,812 MW from renewable energy generation.

The newspaper reported that in the midst of power outages and high temperatures that forces a greater use of equipment such as fans and air conditioners, the Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Este (Edeeste) called the day before to State suppliers to send various electrical goods and services for the installation, repair, disassembly and transfer of transformers.
