Luanda, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) The President of Angola, João Lourenço, expressed his solidarity with the people of Libya, victim of a natural phenomenon that caused the death of more than five thousand people and enormous devastation.

The Angolan president sent a note to the Libyan authorities in which he expressed his sorrow for the tragedy caused by the storm Daniel, which last September 10 hit the country and caused severe flooding, a statement published by the Presidency said.

“On behalf of the Angolan Executive and myself, I express to the families of the victims our greatest solidarity and deepest condolences at this dramatic moment for the Libyan people.”

Storm Daniel hit the country and, according to the Libyan Ministry of the Interior, at least 5,300 people were reported dead due to the floods as of yesterday.

Meanwhile, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the North African nation estimated the number of missing people at 10,000.
