Venezuela and China to strengthen bilateral relations

Beijing, Sep 12 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela and China on Tuesday reaffirmed their willingness to continue strengthening ties as a way to deepen a community of common destiny, according to a meeting between Venezuela´s Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) President Zheng Shanjie.

The meeting was held in the context of the 17th China-Venezuela High-Level Joint Commission, where both sides debated on the progress of diplomatic relations which started off back in 1974.

Rodriguez and Zheng also discussed the growth prospects of both nations through mechanisms that contribute to shared development, under the principle of complementarity.

Delcy Rodriguez, who also serves as Economy, Finance and Foreign Trade Minister, was accompanied by the Vice-President for Science, Technology, Education and Health Gabriela Jiménez, Foreign Minister Yván Gil, and Petroleum Minister Pedro Tellechea.

Zheng has been serving as Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission since March 12, 2023, and as Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Anhui province. He also held responsibilities in the Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee.
