President of Mongolia will attend the G77 Summit in Cuba

Ulan Bator, Sep 12 (Prensa Latina) The President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh, will participate in the Summit of the Group of 77 (G77) and China to be held in Cuba on September 15 and 16, diplomatic sources confirmed today.

The president will travel to the island this week to attend the event at the invitation of his counterpart Miguel Díaz-Canel.

During his stay in the Caribbean nation, the Mongolian president will meet with Díaz Canel to talk about the historical relation of friendship, cooperation and respect between both countries.

Both nations share the will and interest to continue the momentum of their relations and bilateral collaboration, indicated the island’s embassy in Ulaanbator.

Cuba was the first country in the entire American continent to establish diplomatic ties with Mongolia in 1960 and to open a mission in Ulaanbator in 1962.

The Caribbean nation is also the only country in Latin America and the Caribbean that has an embassy in the Mongolian capital and Havana hosts the only legation of this Asian country in that region, according to the source.

Since 1963, Cuba has offered a modest program of free university scholarships for Mongolian students and in 60 years more than 120 students from the Central Asian country have graduated on the island in medicine, dentistry and physical culture.

Cuba highly appreciates the sustained and traditional international position of Ulaanbator in the United Nations General Assembly and other international forums in support of the island against the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.
