El-Sisi also expressed his condolences for the earthquake’s victims in Morocco and Storm Daniel in Libya, Presidency Spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy said in a press release.
Fahmy explained that the president ordered the armed forces to provide humanitarian aid to the two nations and send relief and rescue teams to assist in the recovery works.
Although there are no concrete figures, Libyan authorities estimate that Storm Daniel killed some 2,000 people as it passed through the eastern region, and about 5,000-6,000 people are unaccounted for.
The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Morocco on September 8 has risen to more than 2,600, the Interior Ministry informed.
The death toll and injuries are expected to increase as the search continues in the two countries.
