Cuban ambassador praises significance of G77+China Summit

Buenos Aires, Sep 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Ambassador to Argentina Pedro Pablo Prada on Tuesday praised the importance of G77+China Summit for the construction of a multipolar world.

Under the slogan: The current challenges of development: the role of science, technology and innovation, the Summit will be held from Sept. 15-16, at the Havana International Conference Center. It will be attended by 70 foreign delegations and over 30 Presidents and Prime Ministers, including the Argentine President Alberto Fernandez.

In an interview with Télam news agency, Ambassador Prada assured the Summit is a stepping stone on the road to a new global order, since the current one guarantees no economic and food security, peace among nations, development, social justice or equality.

It is a great honor for Cuba to have been elected as president pro tempore of G77+China, considered the main negotiating group within the United Nations, Prada stated.

Regarding issues to be addressed, Prada stressed the significance Cuba attaches to environmental protection and the joint confrontation with climate change.

However, he regretted that the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cannot be reached as a result of drawbacks imposed by developed countries.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we perceived how global vaccine industries precluded the doses from reaching a large number of nations. That is why the Summit focuses on challenges of development for science, technology and innovation, he added.

Plus, the Cuban ambassador praised the excellent bilateral relations with Argentina.
