No process that isolates Russia from the Black Sea grain initiative can be viable, Erdogan said from New Delhi, where he attended the Group of 20 (G-20) Summit.
Erdogan affirmed that the deal allowed the export of 33 million tons of grain and had prevented the global food crisis from worsening.
The grain initiative stalled in mid-July after Russia withdrew from the deal and stated that the part that facilitated the safe export of Russian grain and fertilizers had not been fulfilled.
Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out that the West had used the deal to export most of Ukraine’s grain to its states, and the deal’s leading goal, to supply grain to the countries in need, had never been fulfilled.
Erdogan assured he does not deem it impossible to succeed in restoring the deal, and therefore, Russia, Ukraine, and Türkiye will continue to discuss options.
