“Our goal is to establish a visa-free regime with all Latin America, so coordination is underway, we are working. When the agreement is in force, we will sign it,” he said in response to a corresponding question from the TASS news agency.
The diplomat also reminded that Moscow enjoys a visa-free regime with all of South America and almost all of Central America. “Therefore, we really don’t have any problems with travel,” Schetinin opined.
During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which was held in June this year, Schetinin said that Russia already had a visa-free regime in place with 27 of the 33 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
It was currently negotiating to abolish visas with Bahamas, Barbados, Haiti, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago, as well as St. Lucia.
