The PM began his arguments of the legal case filed in that court in his capacity as co-president of the Commission of Small States on Climate Change and International Law (COSIS), the Antigua Newsroom website referred.
According to the press release, this body seeks the advisory opinion of the ITLOS on whether carbon dioxide emissions cause ocean pollution, and on the determination of the responsibility of States to mitigate it.
The action represents COSIS’ initial step in its mission to hold major polluters accountable and in seeking justice for the nations most harmed, the media outlet noted.
