Hamas rejects accusations after fighting in a camp in Lebanon

Beirut, Sep 11 (Prensa Latina) Palestinian Hamas movement in Lebanon rejected accusations of supporting, together with Islamic Jihad and Hizbulah, armed groups in a conflict in the Ein al-Hilweh refugee camp.

In a statement, it called such falsehoods old and new desperate attempts to distort the image of the movement and the Palestinian resistance.

Hamas confirmed it has been working since the first day of the outbreak of events in Ein al-Hilweh to achieve a ceasefire and will continue its efforts with all loyal people for the sake of achieving security in the camp.

It clarified there is no battle for power and control over the Palestinian decision, and in this regard, it assured that the accusations only serve the Israeli occupation and the enemies of the resistance.

Hamas spokesman Jihad Taha pointed out that the clashes constitute a sedition practiced by suspicious parties seeking to fragment and weaken the security of Palestinian camps on Lebanese soil.

According to the pan-Arab Al Mayadeen channel, one person was killed and others were injured in Monday’s continuation of fighting between the Fatah movement and extremist groups inside Ein al-Hilweh camp for the fifth consecutive day.

Amid Lebanese and Palestinian efforts and contacts to reach a new ceasefire agreement, the pace of clashes intensified at dawn by bursts of bullets and bomb throwing after a relative calm throughout the night.
