In an interview with Firstpost and other media outlets during his participation in the G20 Summit, the Brazilian head of State charged that Cuba has been subjected to a blockade by the United States for over 60 years, that is why the Cuban people cannot develop the way they would like.
He also called for the elimination of the campaign against Cuba that says it sponsors terrorists, which it is used to justify the blockade.
Lula assured that in his experience of over 30 years visiting Cuba, he has never seen terrorist training camps or weapons of mass destruction.
“That is why, the first chance I get with President Joe Biden, I will tell him about the need to stop sanctioning (…) There are no explanations, I disagreed with the blockade when I was 50, I am 77 now and still do not understand why that policy against Cuba is still in force,” he pointed out.
Lula harshly criticized the sanctions and blockades imposed on Cuba, Venezuela and Iran. He stated that those policies are weapons that are worse than bombs, as their victims are women children, the people in general. He stressed that rules are needed, changing that behavior, and finding another way of making politics in the world.
Lula added that “the planet must learn to live in peace and harmony, instead of destroying each other.”
