Al-Mekdad explained to the UN official Syria’s basic challenges, in particular the catastrophic effects of terrorism and the Western blockade on the humanitarian and domestic economic situation and the lives of Syrians.

The head of Syrian diplomacy assured that these aftermaths were triggered by the devastating earthquake that hit the nation in February.

He condemned the illegal military presence of the United States and Türkiye in Syria, and denounced the ongoing plundering of the Syrian people’s wealth by the US forces.

Such theft is a flagrant violation of Syrian sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and of international law, the Foreign Minister noted.

The UN Envoy, in turn, exposed the results of his visits and meetings during the last period, and the efforts he is making within the framework of his post.
