The communiqué published on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Lavrov had said at a press conference at the end of the G-20 Summit that “all these efforts are doomed to failure in a situation in which the West only promises.”
According to the head of Russian diplomacy, the situation forced UN Spokesperson Farhan Haq to admit at a press conference lately that “the secretariat, in its efforts, in no way violates the regime of sanctions illegally imposed on Russia.”
Lavrov stressed that all of Guterres’s efforts were aimed at lifting the sanctions on Russian fertilizer and food exports.
On July 22, 2022, Russia, Türkiye and the United Nations signed a deal to unblock grain and fertilizer exports from Ukraine across the Black Sea, while the Ukrainian Government penned a similar agreement with Ankara and UN representatives.
