Every city or town needs to preserve the bibliographic collections treasured in its institutions to tell its history, and the event aims to contribute to this purpose, according to a press release from the cultural institution.
The meeting will promote the exchange of experiences on the preservation of the documentary heritage, both in the national and international context, including the processes of conservation, restoration, digitization and digital preservation.
Another of its objectives is to contribute to generating ideas and proposals to strengthen the safeguarding of the documentary and digital heritage with a southern perspective.
It also aims to bring together curators from library and art institutions, collectors and representatives of the private sector whose work is related to books and other paper documents.
In order to achieve this, the BNJM counts on the participation of colleagues from different national institutions and other countries, who will share their experiences during the days of the event.
