The recent visit by these officials and their meetings with separatist organizations are a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the principles of international law and Security Council resolutions, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
It described as a blatant lie the US allegation that the visit and meetings were aimed at resolving the problems of the residents of Deir Ezzor province, or what it called “dangers of interference from abroad.”
This demonstrates the hypocritical approach promoted by the US administration, which plunders the wealth and capabilities of the Syrian people and imposes unjust, illegitimate, inhumane and immoral unilateral coercive measures that kill Syrians mercilessly, the note asserted.
The Ministry pointed out that this blatant interference in Syria’s internal affairs by the United States, and its unlimited support for terrorist groups and separatist militias demonstrate again Washington’s destructive and sabotaging role, which aims to prolong the war and deepen the people’s suffering.
Damascus reiterated its condemnation of these practices and expressed its right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens by all means guaranteed by international law, the text said.
It expressed the army’s determination to extend the control and sovereignty of the State throughout its territory, as well as to end all forms of occupation and illegal presence by foreign forces.
