Daniela Serrano and Luis Cuello handed over a letter to the U.S. ambassador in Santiago Bernadette Meehan -addressing to President Joe Biden- requesting the creation of a fund for the victims of the dictatorship.

“The United States has the obligation to grant reparations to Chile”, Congressman Luis Cuello declared and added this not only includes apologizing for the intervention and interference, but also an economic compensation.

He warned that violating the international law cannot go unpunished and said he hoped that all political sectors would support this proposal transversally.

Daniela Serrano, on the other hand, recalled that recently declassified files showed how Washington torpedoed Salvador Allende´s democratically elected government.

It has become clear that there was foreign interference here and we strongly believe that the United States should compensate those who were victims of state terrorism, she said.
