Lebanese Information Minister expresses admiration for Cuba

Beirut, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) The Minister of Information in the interim government of Lebanon, Ziad Makary, expressed his admiration for Cuba on Thursday, when he received a delegation from the Latin American news agency Prensa Latina (PL).

At the headquarters of the institution, the Lebanese Minister welcomed the group, headed by PL President Luis Enrique González, who agreed on the need to strengthen communication links, show the reality of the peoples and defend truth.

The Lebanese official also expressed his interest in developing relations with Cuba, making the Lebanese community in Latin America visible and contributing to expand collaboration in different sectors.

The PL President, in turn, called to strengthen communication between the two countries and commented on the presence of the Latin American agency in Lebanon since the 1980s, during the civil war.

González highlighted the strengthening of the correspondent’s office in Beirut since the establishment of ties with the Al Mayadeen network in 2014, and the joint work in favor of the causes of free peoples.

In this regard, he announced the preparation, together with Al Mayadeen, of an international coverage in the context of the G77+China Summit in Havana on September 15-16.

Recalling part of Prensa Latina’s history, the news agency’s president highlighted its work in some 40 countries and its commitment to telling about the peoples’ struggles with its own voice.

On the occasion, Gonzalez invited Minister Makary to participate in Operation Truth, an international media event scheduled for January 2024.

On this subject, he underlined the purpose of summoning more than 100 ministers and directors of communication from different countries, who will learn about the reality of Cuba and its people.

Also present at the meeting with the Lebanese official was Cuban Ambassador in Beirut Jorge León, and members of the board of directors of the Pan-Arab channel Al Mayadeen.
