Cuban Prime Minister acknowledges contributions of Immunoassay Center

Havana, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero on Thursday acknowledged the contributions of the Immunoassay Center to science, on the occasion of its 36th anniversary.

On his account on X, formerly Twitter, the head of Government congratulated the institution’s staff and recalled that it was created by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Marrero highlighted the Center’s contributions to the development of Cuban science, health care and the biopharmaceutical industry.

The Immunoassay Center stands as one of the most important institutions in Cuba’s scientific development, with tangible contributions in the detection of Down syndrome and other genetic diseases, AIDS, and hepatitis B and C.

In 2021, the institution created several products to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, such as the CPAP flow generator for the production of 250 pieces of emergency ventilation equipment of the Ventipap Neuronic brand, the Umelisa SARS-CoV-2 Antigen, and the Umelisa SARS-COV-2 Anti RBD.
