Ghanaians trust in future thanks to training received in Cuba

Accra, Sep 6 (Prensa Latina) The confidence in Ghana´s future thanks to men and women trained in Cuba was expressed by the country´s former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman.

On the 40th anniversary of sending the first group of Ghanaians to Cuba to be trained, Agyeman recalled passages about the creation of the program and subsequent insights during a commemorative ceremony held on September 2 at the Cuban embassy in Ghana, according to a press release sent to Prensa Latina by Cuban Ambassador Anette Chao Garcia.

The text specified that members of the Association of Ghanaian Graduates in Cuba (ESBECAN), headed by its President Phillip Bentil, the Secretary-General of Ghana Socialist Movement as well as prominent journalist Kwesi Pratt, among others, attended the event.

Several of Ghanaian graduates spoke at the ceremony, among them the Director of the Cape Coast University Hospital Erick Kofi who recalled how they learned to work and study, as well as to eat Cuban food and to love the Cuban people.

A video message sent by the President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) Fernando González Llort was screened on the occasion of the commemoration, in which he reiterated his gratitude for Ghana´s constant support such as the shipment of medicines in 2022 when Cuba was facing devastating events.

Chao García, on the other hand, acknowledged that in nearly 64 years of relations between the two countries, education for generations of Ghanaians is one of the most valuable results.
