In statements to the Ethiopian News Agency, Grippo congratulated the African country for its membership along with Buenos Aires, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and Saudi Arabia, in force as of January 1, 2024, announced at the 15th Summit of that economic group held in Johannesburg, South Africa, last month.
The diplomat stated that in a world where communication and cooperation are increasingly complicated, it is encouraging to see that the Global South nations can continue to strengthen their ties and help each other to bring prosperity to their countries.
“I believe that Ethiopia and Argentina will benefit from participating in this group of countries that account for 40 percent of the world’s population and 25 percent of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” he said.
In his opinion, Egypt has a lot to offer to BRICS and the world. I look forward to the country completing its peace process to stand on solid ground and continue strengthening its trade and cooperation with BRICS and the world,” he stressed.
