Ukraine has lost more than 66,000 soldiers during counter-offensive

Moscow, Sep 5 (Prensa Latina) The Ukrainian forces have lost more than 66,000 soldiers and 7,600 pieces of military equipment since the beginning of their counteroffensive, Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu informed at a meeting with high-ranking military officers.

In particular, the Minister explained that only in the last month, the Russian anti-aircraft defense shot down more than 1,000 enemy drones, while 159 Himars multiple missiles and 13 cruisers were destroyed, as well as 34 command posts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to Sputnik news agency.

“The Russian armed forces continue to act along the entire line of contact. The Ukrainian government, despite huge losses, has been trying for three months to carry out a so-called counteroffensive, but it has failed to achieve its goals in any of the frontline areas,” the official assured.

Shoigou noted that the Ukrainian leadership wants to demonstrate to its Western controllers at least some success in the offensive actions in order to continue to receive military and economic aid, which only prolongs the conflict.

“The most tense situation is developing in the Zaporozhie area, where the enemy has activated brigades of the strategic reserve, whose personnel have been trained under the direction of Western instructors,” the Minister of Defense stated.
